With the Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards 2023 already a sell-out, we are pleased to announce details of the guest speaker for the prestigious awards night on Thursday 23 March at Stadium MK.

Professor Monder Ram OBE is the Director of the Centre for Research in Ethnic Minority Entrepreneurship (CREME) at Aston University. One of the foremost international scholars researching ethnic minority entrepreneurship, Prof Monder Ram’s work has helped to shape the field over the past three decades.

As a social scientist specialising in research and impact on small and ethnic minority businesses, Monder has worked with CRÈME and the Centre for Migration and Forced Displacement to publish an independent review titled ‘Time to change: A blueprint for advancing the UK’s ethnic minority businesses’ – the first of its kind.

At the awards, Monder will outline this research and the recommendations made in the report and talk about how Milton Keynes businesses can use it to harness increased economic opportunities, greater diversity in entrepreneurship and a more diverse, vibrant and dynamic business community.

Prof. Ram has held visiting Professorships at Lund University and Turku University in Finland. He serves as an advisor to the All-Party Parliamentary Group for BAME Business Owners and is a member of the Ethnic Minority Business Group at the Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

Chair of organisers, Nicholas Mann from Milton Keynes Business Leaders Partnership, commented, “We are delighted to welcome Professor Monder Ram to speak at MKBAA 2023. With our theme this year as ‘Celebrating Diversity’, Monder brings us his wealth of knowledge and vast experience on the subject. We hope that businesses and individuals at the awards will gain a valuable insight into how ethnic minority entrepreneurship can be encouraged and harnessed to benefit the Milton Keynes business community.”

The headline sponsors for MKBAA 2023 are Milton Keynes City Council, The Open University and Brioche Pasquier. There are a small number of other sponsorship opportunities still available. If you are interested, please get in touch at sponsorship@mkbaa.co.uk.
